This page contains information for enrolled CSU students with health insurance coverage provided by Colorado Medicaid/Health First Colorado.
Why is CSU Health Network not an approved Medicaid provider?
One of the understood criteria is that Medicaid providers must be open to the general public. Since CSU Health Network’s mission and purpose is to serve CSU students, we cannot meet this requirement.
What does this mean for CSU students with Medicaid coverage?
All CSU students who pay the medical and counseling access fees are able to be seen at the CSU Health Network. Although we cannot bill Colorado Medicaid for our services, our providers can order, prescribe and refer students to in-network providers with Colorado Medicaid.
Students with Colorado Medicaid insurance can access office visits with CSU Health Network medical and psychiatry providers. Learn more about how to make a medical or psychiatry appointment.
Referrals and additional services:
If a CSU Health Network provider determines that you need to see a specialist or receive additional services, such as physical therapy, x-rays, immunizations, or dental services, the provider will write a referral or place an order for you to receive those services with a local Colorado Medicaid provider. This process helps limit out-of-pocket costs for students with Colorado Medicaid insurance. See below for a list of some of the approved Colorado Medicaid clinics in the Fort Collins community. For assistance in finding a local provider, specialist or clinic that is accepting new Medicaid patients, visit healthinfosource.com.
CSU Health Network providers can write prescriptions for you that can be billed to Colorado Medicaid. In addition, the CSU Health Network Pharmacy is contracted with Colorado Medicaid, which means you can get your prescriptions filled at the CSU Health and Medical Center and the cost can be billed to Colorado Medicaid.
Counseling Services and mental health support:
By paying student fees, all students have full access to a wide range of mental health support services, including CSU Health Network Counseling Services, at no additional cost regardless of the type of insurance coverage you carry. Visit Counseling Services on the 3rd floor of the CSU Health and Medical Center to get connected to the services that are best for you.
