RamCare Grant Program

Welcome to the RamCare Grant Program! This program will cover the cost of most medical services, dental services, optometry services, and more at the CSU Health Network.

Why the RamCare Grant Program?

  • You are automatically enrolled in the program with no cost to you for those who qualify.

What does the RamCare Grant Program include?

The RamCare Grant covers up to $3,000 per semester at the CSU Health Network for services related to illness or injury that would otherwise be payable at the time of service. Dental and vision services are included in the $3,000 benefit, $200 per semester toward prescription drug costs, and $50 for Flex Services to be used toward non-covered services within the CSU Health Network.

How much does the RamCare Grant Program cost?

The cost of the program is covered by a grant awarded through CSU’s Office of Financial Aid. Each semester you are enrolled, you will see the cost of the program charged to your student account ($125), and within a few days a corresponding credit will be applied as a grant to pay for the program.

 

What are the coverage dates for RamCare Grant?

  • Spring 2024: 1/16/2024 – 5/31/2024

RamCare Grant automatically enrolls those who qualify for Fall and Spring semesters only.Students enrolled in 6 or more summer credits will be enrolled in RamCare Grant during  the summer.

What services are included and excluded from RamCare Grant coverage?

The RamCare Grant coverage is limited to medically necessary outpatient services rendered at CSU Health Network only. The RamCare Grant pays up to $3,000 per semester for the following services:

  • Medical & Psychiatric visits
  • Diagnostic Services: Includes routine x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests (on site only*)
  • Outpatient Surgery: Limited to minor procedures performed at CSUHN only
  • Physical Therapy Services
  • Optometry Services
  • Sports Medicine/ Orthopedic Clinic
  • Medical Supplies in regular stock at CSUHN that are prescribed or utilized by a physician as part of a treatment plan
  • Allergy and Asthma Care
  • Vaccines: Flu, MMR, T-Dap, and Meningitis A, C, Y, W-135
  •  General Mental Health Services
  • One Wellness Physical Consult Per Year, including associated on-site only labs
  • Birth Control Counseling and Procedures
  • Dental Services: Diagnostic, preventative, and restorative procedures at CSU Health Network only.

*Talk to your medical provider or the lab to understand if RamCare Grant can cover the ordered labs or if the labs will be sent out and billed directly to you by the outside lab. Outside lab costs cannot be paid by RamCare Grant.

Use Flex Benefits ($50 per semester) or pay out of pocket for these services: 

  • Dental Services: cosmetic, night guards, orthodontic
  • Travel Clinic and associated vaccines 
  • Voluntary or other services not medically necessary for the diagnosis or treatment of an illness or injury 

RamCare Grant pays up to $200 per semester for Prescriptions filled at the CSUHN pharmacy

Exclusions (pay out of pocket for these services):

  • Late Fees
  • No Show Fees
  • Laboratory Services (Sent to an off-site lab*)
  • Over-the-Counter Pharmacy Items
  • DAY Program and associated testing

*Talk to your medical provider or the lab to understand if RamCare Grant can cover the ordered labs or if the labs will be sent out and billed directly to you by the outside lab. Outside lab costs cannot be paid by RamCare Grant.

Please note:

  • RamCare Grant is a CSU program and not a health insurance plan.
  • RamCare Grant can be used only for CSU Health Network services.
  • RamCare Grant is only available for those students who qualify through the Office of Financial Aid (please check your email for confirmation of enrollment in this program).
