Physical Therapy

Located on the lower level of the Hartshorn Health Center, the Physical Therapy Department is staffed by eight physical therapists, seven at CSU Health Network and one at the Campus Recreation Center. Physical therapy is available to all students and departments covered by the student health fee. Health insurance is not required nor is a physician's referral necessary.

The Physical Therapy Department provides the following services:

  • Pre and post surgical care with an emphasis on orthopedic rehabilitation
  • Overuse injuries
  • Ergonomic evaluation and recommendations
  • Gait analysis
  • Orthotic devices
  • Pain relief and management
  • Acute and chronic injuries--sprains,strains, neck and low back pain, joint and muscle dysfunction
  • Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, (TMJ)
  • Management of sports-related issues and injuries
  • Balance and vestibular therapies
  • Pool and weight training therapy (Campus Recreation Center)
  • Splinting/Casting
  • Plyometrical/Pilates Classes
  • Orthopedic Clinic (through physician referral)

Massage

The CSU Health Network currently offers massage therapy to all students through its Physical Therapy Department. Student may be referred to a massage therapist from another health care professional or may schedule an appointment on their own.

Several forms of massage are offered including Swedish massage for stress reduction and deep tissue massage for injury rehabilitation/chronic pain. Trigger point therapy can be used for chronic pain conditions such as frequent headaches.

All massage appointments are with one of three certified massage therapists with up to 15 years private practice experience.

Cost to full-time fee-paying students is $39.00 for 60 minutes and $23.00 for 30 minutes. PT Initial Visit-$25.00, PT Followup Visit-$15.00.
